The verses of Love

Ayat-ayat cinta or The verses of Love

I always condemn my parents and sisters whenever they sit at living hall while watching Indonesian's tv channels. people in Johor and some places in Malacca are enjoying the abundance channels from our neighbors' tv channels.

That tells you why if you come to southern region you will see there are lot of houses with high antenna rails. that also tells me, why my parents keep resisting me on idea putting in Astro at our home. The reason is they like to watch indonesian's drama series and it means, even before the series came into every TVs in Malaysia, we in southern region already know what it is ends for every series from Indonesia.

I still remember few months back, this movie, Ayat-Ayat cinta has pull on many attention to watch this movie, not just in Indonesia but across the globe, yes, across the globe...but put behind the awards thing as when this being watched by my families back at my hometown few months back, i was hitting them on why they fondly on indonesian drama or movies, and stay in front of tv until late at night just watching their tv channels.

Now, i guess the curse is back against me, as i think the movie really deserved of my two thumbs up not because it has won many awards and recognition from film awards but the way it telling the story nicely without much of Arabic language in this film! that is the things made my eyebrows liften up. as like other arts movie, it does not have line of famous movie stars, so i hope you are not disappointed if you want to watch Bunga Citra Lestary or any big names you name it (bunga in this movie?hmm,omg...)

What is the movie all about? can i tell you,let me think...

Before going for that, i am glad and thankful that in the midst of Western blocks accusing Muslims as terrrorist, and perceptions how bad to Muslims who apply the poligamy (having more than 1 wives) this movie comes out to diminish all this sceptical on going to muslims.

Ok now back to what is the movie all about?

Ayat Ayat Cinta is a beautifully portrayed Islamic love story – a tale of a virtuous Muslim protagonist who overcomes all obstacles of life maintaining pure ideals.

Fahri bin Abdillah is a poor, intelligent student who wins a scholarship to complete his graduate degree at Egypt's esteemed Al Azhar University. Very disciplined and dedicated by nature, Fahri embraces his life in Cairo, completing his studies and translation of religious books with full enthusiasm, exactly according to pre-determined targets.

Only one goal is left unattempted: the pursuit of marriage.
For Fahri is innocent and pure, and doesn't believe in the concept of relationships prior to marriage.

He is inarticulate and shy around women. All his life, only two women have been close to him – his mother and grandmother.
Life changes drastically in Egypt for he suddenly finds himself surrounded by four beautiful, distinctly different women.

Maria Girgis, a shy, open-minded Coptic-Christian neighbor who is attracted to the teachings of the Holy Al Quran, finds herself falling in love with Fahri (a fact she only reveals to her diary).

Nurul, a student at Al Azhar like Fahri, is the Muslim daughter of a renowned Indonesian cleric. Fahri feels unworthy of her and thus ignores his feelings for her, leaving her confused and guessing.

Noura, an abused Egyptian neighbor, develops strong romantic feelings for Fahri, who in turn simply sympathizes with her situation. His romantic rejection destroys her and eventually leads to a false accusation of rape.

Aisha, a German Turkish student in Cairo haunts Fahri with her beautiful eyes. Following an incident on the metro where Fahri defends her against narrow minded bigoted Muslims, both immediately develop feelings for each other.
As the story unravels, the protagonist makes the audience face the daunting decisions he himself faces, and forces us to marvel at his undying loyalty to the true ideals of Islam as he ultimately makes the choice of a lifetime.

So, why wait? Watch this movie and you will see why there is no reason it is not worthy in watching it. I bet you will like it, and my hope is this movie can be nominated to contest into Oscar awards for foreign movies. to non-movie lovers and like to read novel, grab this novel from bookstores nearest as this movie is base from the novel itself, then to series and now coming to us in movie.
